How the rate is calculated
Pricing is per-minute of narrated audio. A 3-hour audiobook (~180 minutes) costs $36 to download yourself, or $18 to publish with Azalea — plus you earn back 50% of streaming revenue from that point on.
We charge a flat one-time amount at publish, not a subscription. Once you've paid for a project on the self-publish path, you can re-download the ZIP anytime, free.
What about generation cost?
Generation itself is free while you're drafting. We absorb the TTS provider cost so you can iterate on voice and pacing without watching a meter. The bill only arrives when you choose how to ship.
